60

About 10 miles N of Dahlonega, Georgia State Highway 60 provides 23 miles of the closest thing to Deal's Gap, beginning in Suches and winding up at Morgenton.   From Morgenton you can take Spur 60 for about 15 miles to the bottom of US 129, and go on up to Deal's Gap. This provides one heck of a day on the bike! The great thing about this route is you have the "TWO" (Two Wheel Only) campground in Suches and the Deal's Gap campground in North Carolina.
A lot of folks will run Highway 60 up and down, all day, camp at TWO, then take Georgia State Highway 180 past Desoto Falls and pick up US 129 there. Then they spend the next night at Deal's Gap. Georgia 180 is a real nice ride with a lot of ridge riding. Desoto Falls is breathtaking.

Hwy. 60

Hwy 60 and 129 Wolf Pen gap road right in Suches.

Hwy. 129

N. of 19 near Dahlonega.

Stay with the great folks at Two Wheels Only camp ground (they also have

cabins) in Suches, GA. Excellent folks. Even more excellenter roads all though the area - and there'll be someone there to point you to whatever it is you want to ride through. Only about an hour or so S of Deals Gap.

136

From Birmingham, Alabama, ride up to Canyonland State Park in North Georgia and find some of the best novice riding ever. It provides great mountain-top scenery with some of the prettiest bottom land you'll ever see.  Take Alabama 75 (one of those "green dot" roads) across the state line into Georgia and on to Cloudland State Park. The park is beautiful and has several miles of smooth pavement with plenty of overlooks and great camping spots.   Next, take GA 136 from the park through La Fayette to Villanow. This is a real nice road with some good mountain top scenery and takes you down into the valley. From Villanow, it looks like Georgia 201 would go on south, but it actually ends there. But the "gray" road from there to US 27 has some of the most breathtaking views of the valley, beautiful pastureland, terrific sweeping turns and smooth pavement.
This is a great route to take for an enjoyable ride without "catch your tailight" type curves in it. Several miles of pure pleasure.

Route 180

Past Brass Town Bald (tallest peak) to Suches.
